The Dallas Chapter of the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA/Dallas) announces UPSIDEDOWN Collection 2007 on March 31. The much-lauded event returns to The Hilton Anatole Hotel as brilliant as ever featuring dinner, a runway show and silent and live auction. Proceeds from the evening provide much-needed financial support to AIDS Service Organizations in North Texas and beyond.

DIFFA/Dallas was founded in 1988 and holds the distinction of being the largest and most successful DIFFA chapter in the nation, having granted more than $3 million dollars to AIDS Service Organizations locally. The Jacket Collection is nationally recognized and is DIFFA/Dallas’ largest annual fundraiser.

The event centers on an auction of more than 100 Arizona denim jackets from JC Penney, which have been redesigned, restructured and reworked into unforgettable works of one-of-a-kind art. The live/silent auctions take place throughout the evening which includes a dinner and runway show that rivals those of New York and Milan.

In the hands of creative designers like Nicolas Villalba, Kenneth Cole, Geoffrey Henning, St. John Couture, Isabel Toledo, Terani, Patricia Field and Carmen Marc Valvo; the great American fashion staple is elevated to Haute Couture Status. Personal Style and commitment is reflected in jackets designed by such talents as David Nelson, Thee Viron Roe, Keith Carlisle, Rhonda Sargent Chambers, Loretta Gonzales and Ellen Holt.

With nearly 20 years experience in the design industry, Jeffrey Horn takes the reigns as Event Chairman of Jacket Collection 2007, assisted by Vice-chair Bryan Long. “UPSIDEDOWN Collection 2007 serves up the glitz and glamour expected of DIFFA/Dallas and more. This year we hope to take the event to another level – Rosie O’ Donnell, Leslie Jordan and Delta Burke are all designing jackets this year! We plan to raise even more money and grant more funds to the AIDS Service Organizations that do so much to improve the lives of those impacted by with HIV/AIDS.”

Additionally, UPSIDEDOWN Collection 2007 recognizes major contributors in the fight against AIDS with the DIFFA/Dallas Style Council, a panel selected for their stylish commitment to raising awareness and funds to combat the disease. Style Council Chairman Nicolas Villalba and Honorary Chairman Eddie Nunns lead a group of Style Council Ambassadors to raise awareness of the fundraiser across the nation.

“There is always so much excitement regarding Collection; every year it there are more and more surprises,” says Greg Haynes Johnson, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of DIFFA/Dallas, “none of which could be possible without the support of our sponsors, friends and volunteers. It takes an enormous amount of support to raise awareness of those still fighting this disease world-wide. We will continue to make a statement until there is finally a cure.”
