Abi Ferrin Jacket

DIFFA/Dallas, Local Designer Abi Ferrin, and Donation Create a Safari Adventure.

Dallas, Texas—February 4, 2008—Who knew donating to a charity could involve a modern day adventure to Africa and that fashion would be a part of it?  D.I.F.F.A. (Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids) www.DIFFADallas.org, Dallas based designer named ‘Texas’ Next Top Designer’,  Abi Ferrin, recent breast cancer survivor Jani Schulz, and Tollie’s African Safaris, have teamed up together for this year’s “DIFFA/Dallas Collection” fashion Show.

The event will be February 23rd from 5:30pm to 10:30pm at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, www.DIFFADallas.org.  The event is to raise money for DIFFA/Dallas, which helps victims of AIDS.This year, the auction items for the nationally renowned DIFFA/Dallas charity have gone over and beyond.  Abi Ferrin’s contribution to this highly acclaimed event is a jacket she designed and made to be auctioned.  The jacket has been chosen as one of eight that are to be grouped with the large auction items.  Ferrin’s jacket ties in the African theme with the accents of vintage Ostrich donated by Jani Schulz and will be auctioned in a package with a 7 day photo Safari to Africa.  “This year I designed a jacket which is full of life and exactly what I wanted to see on the DIFFA runway,  a long colorful full length duster style coat, lined unexpectedly with my custom Abi Ferrin silk fire print.  Jani Schulz was the inspiration behind the jacket.  Jani is full of life and this year has just recently battled and beaten breast cancer.  Ultimately, she is the inspiration behind the jacket.  At even her toughest time she continues to put people less fortunate than herself first.  She is a huge supporter of DIFFA and was the person to introduce me to this organization.  The DIFFA group in Dallas raises the most money for the cause of any chapter nationally.  DIFFA/Dallas members and supporters have created a grassroots organization that raises money for AIDS victims.  Abi Ferrin’s company is no newcomer to charity work either; the whole theory behind Abi’s company is to empower women.  A portion of her profits are donated to rescuing women from the sex trade in Nepal and enabling the women to have their own micro-businesses.  The women make buttons, notions and toggles that Abi Ferrin purchases and sells with every piece of her collection. This year will be no exception to the excitement, dedication and belief in what DIFFA/Dallas and Abi Ferrin are doing for the world. If you would like more information about this topic, or to schedule an interview with Abi Ferrin, please call Leah McCann at 469-235-7303 or email at leah.mccann@abiferrin.com.  Website: www.abiferrin.com, http://www.safari-in-africa.com, www.DIFFADallas.org
